Mission: The Lonesome Road
Location: Bridge
Timeline: ??

Korrath had been taken ill not long after his arrival on the Ontario and had thus been relieved of duties. After battling the short term illness, the Doctor had signed him off as fit for duty. He stepped onto the bridge to hear the exchange between the Captain and the First Officer. He shook his head silently as he listened. When the communication finished, Korrath stepped forward." Captain, I recommend pulling the team back immediately. We don't currently have any information to be able to adequately predict all the variables. Or the Intelligence on the Halcion Trade Authority." Korrath called out from his standing position by the railings on the right.

Elijah looked at the Officer. "My Ready Room.....Now." He said signalling for an additional Bridge officer to assume the command chair as he walked the length to his office.

Korrath paused mentally as his legs carried him to the Ready Room. Had he spoken out of line? He entered the Ready Room behind the Captain, opting not to stand at attention to stand at ease.

"Lieutenant this is a delicate situation given our current circumstances here." Elijah said as he stood round the other side of his desk. "The XO is in charge on the ground, we have two experienced Officers as part of the Away Team, one of which is the Ships Chief of Intel."

The Captain gazed upon the young man. "Have you considered the possibility that them leaving now puts us all in danger?" he asked.

Korrath nodded. "I understand the delicate situation, Captain and I also appreciate the skill set of the XO and the wider away team. I would suspect Lieutenant Ra-Gruvloveii would also agree the variables are far easier for us to control, including the safety of the away team, if they immediately extracted, within the relatively safety of the Ontario. We don't know the laws or regulations of the Halcion Trade Authority or their penalties for not following their regulations if they should be caught." Korrath explained.

"We also don't know if an extraction is safe for them as as well as the Ship." Elijah replied. "We are in the middle of a traffic of Starships to conceal in plain sight, allows us passive observation. The XO informed us that the Halcion enforcement team is already conducting an enforcement for an unrelated matter and we don't want to draw attention to ourselves."

Korrath nodded. "I accept that point, Captain, but I still maintain the variables are known and more easily controlled with an extraction at this point, we can then make first contact with the Halcion Trade Authority in the relative security of the Ontario. However, I apologise if you felt I was out of line on the bridge, I was simply attempting to give an alternative viewpoint and recommendation."

Elijah looked at him. "For now Lieutenant take it one matter at a time, our focus is to observe and not to draw attention that may get us reduced into spacedust okay?"

Korrath decided not to continue making the point. That was the chain of command. Even if he disagreed with a decision the Captain was making, even if he strongly opposed it, it didn't matter. The Captain had the final say. "Understood, Captain." Korrath responded simply, his tone even.

"Now return to your Station Lieutenant, we have work to do." Elijah said as he dismissed him and they both went about their duties.
