Mission: Preservation Instinct
Location: New Kelian
Timeline: MD04

Four days after leaving Riversong Station, they Ontario arrived at New Kelian. "Lieutenant Valeri, contact the planet. Tell them we have supplies for them and for Eden Research Station."

"Aye, ma'am." Peri opened a comm channel. When she got no response, she made a few adjustments and tried again. "No response to hail."

"Try the Eden Research Station," Grace said. She hoped whoever was at comms had walked away momentarily.

Again, Peri tried. She checked that there was nothing to interfere with the signal and tried on a wider band. "Still no response."

"Science, scan the planet. Is there a reason they aren't responding to hails?"

"None I can see," came the response.

Xavier, who was at his station on the bridge, worked with the navigator to ensure proper orbit was established. He compensated with the thrusters where needed in order to ensure the ship moved smoothly into position. "Orbit locked Captain."

"Thank you, Xavier," Grace replied.

Maxwell had made it a point to be on the Bridge when the ship arrived, keeping in the background he wanted to get the first impressions of what is happening Live Time and is only on the bridge.

Quietly, he observed.

Madelyn was back at the engineering console, looking up from the screen towards the planet, observing. Her gaze panned over the bridge, noticing the ravens which were near the barefooted helmsman.

What passed through her mind was Quoth the Raven, Nevermore The avians were certainly well behaved.

Amanda did not like that there were no responses to the hails. That meant something happened to the people on the planet. The possibilities were endless: they were currently under someone else's control, they were forced away or kidnapped, or worse, they could all be incapacitated or dead. Whatever the situation, it was not likely to be a happy outcome. She looked over at the Commander, wondering what her next move might be.

"I have been to ... empty facilities in the past Ma'am." Maxwell spoke up, "Among varied threat levels initially. I would like to be included in the team that goes down first. " A stoic expression on his face. "WE do not know if there might be 'a Jack -in -the -Box or two?"

"We prepare for as many scenarios as possible." Anahera said.

"We do," Grace said to Anahera. "Lieutenant Maxwell, I'll keep that in mind. But right now, we do not know if the facilities are empty or if they just lost communications."

Tox walked over to doctor Marcus' office and gave a knock on the door calling out, "Knockety Knock Knock my little ray of sunshine! You're favorite nurse is a calling."

The personality of this new nurse was sickening, and Aaron wanted to puke literally every time they spoke. Perhaps his new friend on the Bridge would help him get Tox transferred. However, for now Aaron would have to put his big boy pants on. "You are definitely not my favorite nurse. My favorite nurse is Nurse Heidi from Naughty Nurses Six. And you are no Heidi. That said... What the hell do you want?"

"True but I'm still your favourite. Any.....whooooo. I've prepared all the off ship med kids. Added a few extra things just in case. If we go scouting am I coming on the mission too?"

"Since you said you were here to learn. Please allow me to teach you your first lesson. The only bad medical personnel are dead medical personnel. That said there is never a reason for a doctor or a nurse to leave this ship. I truly mean that. However, if you wish to die you may go on whatever mission there is alone." Aaron turned to leave and head back to his office. He stopped and snapped his fingers as if he forgot something. "Do not disturb me, not even if you are dying. And no. You are not my favorite anything, and never will be." With that and before Tox could say anything more. Aaron headed to his office and secured the door.

Tox studied him. "Ohhhh touched a nerve," he said to himself. "I know you love me!" He called as the doctor turned out of sight. "No reason to go off the ship?" He tapped his chin. "My Toxy senses are tingling." He turned around to head over to the other nurses. Time to find out the dish on the doc. The way he reacted about going off ship... his fourth host Aldari Tox, was a psychologist so this got his heckles up. This one, however, would not be easy to shrink.

Xavier confirmed the high orbit and kept his hand on the controls. If they needed to get away they would make it. Phobos perched on his shoulder now, sensing that Xavier was nervous. He chittered quietly calming Xavier.

When there was still no response from the planet, Grace turned to Yiv. "Prepare an away team to beam down to the planet."

Getting to his feet, the Commander nodded as he pulled on his uniform jumpsuit. 'I'll have the team assemble in Transporter Room Three.'

Anahera called in her relief, and headed for Transporter 3, stopping off at the armoury on the way.

"Check the colony first, then the research station. And be careful. We don't know what's going on down there," Grace said just before Yiv left the bridge.

He chucked a glance and the flash of a smile back at the Captain. 'I'll make sure to be careful - we'll be back in one piece he assured her as he allowed Anahera to step in to the turbolift before him. 'I'll bring our temporary Chief Science Officer, an Engineer and our Chief Nurse along. Should be enough of a party once Anahera has a few Security officers along for the ride too.'

Grace nodded. "Good." She hoped they wouldn't need the extra security, but if no one was answering comms, they might. Still, she hoped it was just some sort of malfunction that was easily resolved.

Xavier looked over at the XO. "Need a pilot?" Xavier flushed green. "Um...sir...I volunteer...if I'm needed." Xavier had only spoken up when he'd heard the composition of the away team. He'd be damned if he'd let the annoying nurse go without an escort. That man was trouble and he wasn't going to let Tox out of his sight.

'You're most welcome to come along,' Yiv replied with a smile, glad that the Lieutenant had volunteered himself. Given the lack of atmospheric or spatial interference, the Executive Officer had thought about the transporters, but having a shuttle on hand would be safer if something unexpected happened.

"Thank you sir." He motioned for another pilot to take his place. He got up and hurried to the commander's side before the man changed his mind.

"I think I will tag along." Maxwell bow slightly. "Enigmas are an Intel man's favorite things to play with. It would be nice to get out and about, plus think if it gets a bit less friendly, I can lend a hand."

Turning to exit in line with the others

Tox was just finishing up some reorganizing when the coms beeped. He read over it and saw that he'd been selected for an away team. Tox did a little happy dance drawing some chuckles from the nursing staff. He gave a fist pump in the hair and said, "FIZZY!" Scrambling he hurried to get the officer away team kits with medical supplies and his own supplies. He was asked to go to shuttle bay and he was glad that he'd stocked the shuttles with new and improved kits. He hurried to the doctor's office.

"Hello my little ball of sunshine. Been selected for an away team. If I don't come back miss me terribly!" He blew a kiss to the doc and was out the door.
